Evaluation of the Contact Toxicity and Physiological Mechanisms of Ginger (Zingiber officinale) Shoot Extract and Selected Major Constituent Compounds against Melanaphis sorghi Theobald

Botanical pesticides have gradually become accepted for use in the control of agricultural pests. In order to clarify active compounds ginger (Zingiber officinale) shoot extract (GSE) and its inhibitory effect on growth sorghum aphids (Melanaphis sorghi). this study, LC-MS/MS was used determine major GSE, leaf disc method explore insecticidal response mechanism aphids. The results showed that phenolic acids were identified as main compounds, followed by flavonoids. aphidicidal activity test using above found 6-gingerol, quercetin-3-O-rutinoside exhibited (GSE > 6-gingerol). aphid evaluated different concentrations GSE. It with increase concentration treatment time, litter size, longevity molting significantly decreased, mortality increased. enzyme treated 15 mg·mL−1 GSE determined, it could inhibit activities pepsin, lipase α-amylase aphids, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) activated. peroxidase (POD) catalase (CAT) increased at first then decreased. detoxification enzymes, carboxylesterase (CarE) activated, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibited, glutathione S-transferase (GST) indicated may a botanical pesticide provide new resources development biological agents.
